WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (August 7, 2020) – Responding to a formal request for feedback, UnityPoint Health today submitted formal comments to the Public Health and Healthcare Workgroup of the Iowa Economic Recovery Advisory Board (Advisory Board) on the state’s collective response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We appreciate the ongoing collaboration with our fellow health care providers, Governor Reynolds, state agencies and associations, and the Advisory Board during this unprecedented time,” says Ashley Thompson, director of government & external affairs for UnityPoint Health. “Our comments to the governor and the board reflect key opportunities that would ensure greater access to health care for Iowans, strengthen our state’s collective response to public health emergencies and reduce unnecessary regulatory burdens on our physicians and providers. We look forward to our ongoing efforts to support current and long-term recovery efforts for all Iowans.”
The comments submitted by UnityPoint Health will help inform the final recommendations of the Advisory Board that will be presented to the governor and state legislature later this year.
Formed in June of this year through an Executive Order by Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, the Economic Recovery Advisory Board is charged with assessing the economic impact of COVID-19 on Iowa’s industries, businesses and workforce, analyze recovery efforts, and recommended strategies that ensure the future prosperity of the state for all Iowans.
